On Wheel of Fortune airing September 17, 2026, the opening toss-up puzzles were solved in quick succession. Cayden got PICKUP TRUCK, David followed with COUNTY FAIR, Cayden added COTTON CANDY, and David solved PLAYING BASEBALL. Those early puzzles set up a close game before the main rounds began.
In the first main round, the Guilty Pleasure puzzle went to David with DESSERT BEFORE DINNER. That solve pushed him into the lead and gave him momentum after the toss-ups. The round established David as the player to catch, while Cayden and Paula continued looking for chances to swing the game back in their favor.
The middle of the episode brought a major turn in the Things category when Cayden solved CULTURAL TREASURES. That win was especially important because it moved him ahead with cash and a tour, creating a real battle heading into the final portions of the game. Earlier in the episode, a crossword-style round had also helped keep the standings competitive, even though the deciding factor ultimately came later.
The Triple Toss-Ups tightened everything further. Paula got on the board in that segment by solving BLACK SLACKS and then CUTOFF JEANS. With those late solves, the match remained close enough that the Speed-Up round would determine the winner.
In Speed-Up, the Working Out puzzle was PLANK IT TILL YOU MAKE IT, and David solved it to finish the game as the night’s winner. He advanced to the Bonus Round, where the category was What Are You Doing? After the standard letters and his choices were added, the bonus puzzle was IDEATING. David did not solve it, so the Bonus Round was not won.
