On Wheel of Fortune airing May 1, 2026, Diane opened by solving the $1,000 Toss-Up with TRADITIONAL LUAU. Phillip answered the $2,000 Toss-Up, Food for Thought, with HE’S A GOOD EGG. In the first main round, Lainey took control with the Never Have I Ever puzzle APPEARED ON TELEVISION, building a strong early lead and adding a trip to Australia.

The Mystery Round, in the Human or Animal? category, turned into a big moment for Phillip. After Lainey had piled up several letters and picked up the Wild Card, Phillip came in and solved THE CAT THAT SWALLOWED THE CANARY for $5,000. That cut into Lainey’s advantage and kept the game competitive heading into the later rounds.

The deciding moment came in the Speed-Up round. Diane solved the Phrase puzzle YOU’RE GROWING ON ME for $8,000. Even with that late solve, she did not overtake Phillip, and the episode ended with Phillip as the winner. Diane was eliminated despite a strong finish, while Lainey’s earlier success was not enough to reclaim the lead.

In the Bonus Round, Phillip chose Food & Drink. After the standard letters and his additional selections were revealed, he was unable to solve the bonus puzzle. The answer was TAPIOCA, so the bonus round was not won. That left Phillip as the night’s champion, with the May 1, 2026 Wheel of Fortune recap centered on his comeback, his Prize Puzzle solve, and the missed bonus puzzle.
