On October 1, 2026, Wheel of Fortune opened with an Up in the Air feature that included PAPER AIRPLANE, with Robert Ford supplying that answer. Another early puzzle was MY WEEKEND PLANS, setting up a game that quickly moved into the regular rounds.
Doniece Talley took control in the Same Letter round by solving TENTS, TRAILERS, TRAILS & TREES. The solve was worth $9,250 in cash and a trip, giving Doniece an early lead over Rachel Ring and Robert.
In the Go Team! category, Doniece identified ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS for an additional $2,050. She continued her strong performance in the Office Prize Puzzle, solving WHAT TIME IS THE MEETING? for $2,700 and a getaway to the New Hotel Mediteran Villa Edition.
The Triple Toss-Up included Robert's solve of FINISHING FIRST, along with the answers PHOTO SHOOT and PHOTO FINISH. Robert also solved the Speed-Up puzzle, the David Bowie lyric WE CAN BE HEROES, for $3,300. Despite that late solve, Doniece won the Wheel of Fortune episode with $23,179 in cash and travel.
Doniece advanced to the Bonus Round in the What Are You Doing? category with her mother, Odessa, present. The bonus puzzle answer was IMPROVING OUR CHANCES, but Doniece did not solve it and did not win the $40,000 bonus.
